On a kitchen bench in 2012, armed with a coffee can, an old file and a youtube tutorial Simon created his first shank. Since then he has followed his curiosity and honed his skills to create hand forged knives for chefs and food lovers. In 2023, Simon was the first winner of Forged Down Under.

Each knife is forged from scratch and hand finished in his workshop in Brisbane. Influenced by his time living in Japan and Shinto concepts of Kami, Simon’s creative process considers the origins of the ethically sourced timber, recycled or salvaged materials, and the continuation of their life as a kitchen tool to be cherished for generations.

Simon pays his respects to the Traditional Owners of Country on which he lives and creates, the Turrbal and Yuggera Peoples.
